Kris Allen Fans: You're Alright with Heifer

Posted by Ragan On Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Alright with Moo, you're alright with us. Heifer has been astounded by the outpouring of support Kris Allen fans have shown us in their effort to honor Kris Allen's 25th birthday and follow his example of giving back. At first the goal was a to buy Kris a cow that would go to help a hungry family lift themselves out of poverty. In just a few days the team had raised over $25,000, enough to buy 50 cows. Kris Allen was evidently impressed by the support his fans showed through Heifer.

At a birthday concert he even mentioned Alright with Moo and Heifer (3:20 into the video):

MTV wrote about the event, and Bill Gates put it on his daily Twitter blog. It's been a whirlwind and we just have to say thank you to everyone involved. Our team is at work creating a special birthday card to send Kris with the names of those who contributed in his honor. We'll present it in a few days, so you still have until Wednesday to honor Kris and help families in need.

  1. Anonymous Said,

Lambert fans just have to try to one-up Kris Allen fans? How lame.

  2. Alright With Moo Said,

We continue to be amazed at the outpouring of support from Bill Gates, MTVNews, Yahoo!Music, local Little Rock news stations and so much more. It's exciting to see donations continue to come in even after Kris's birthday, and we're thrilled that other fan groups are joining in to support such a great organization!

  3. Anonymous Said,

It's okay.Whatever their agenda is as long as a lot of people gets to benefit from it. It's all for Charity so it's a win-win situation. Adam can sing #IfIHadMoo and Kris #AlrightWithMoo while they sail into the sunset on Adam's Heifer Ark...And it'll still be alright with me :)

  4. Anonymous Said,

It's OK! Adam Lambert's fans were inspired by Kris and his great fans to lend a hand, and it all goes to a wonderful cause. This is one time that the fanbase competition will be a good thing. Thanks to Kris's fans for their creativity and generosity, and thanks to Adam's fans for following up with their own project! A lot of families in need will benefit!

  5. Anonymous Said,

Ha...my thoughts exactly!! At least Heifer will profit from the craziness.

  6. Anonymous Said,

Kris is a class act. I'm proud to have contributed and be a fan. It's wonderful to see how Kris' fans can start a trend and have other singers follow in their footsteps. Of course they're following in big footsteps. Way to go Kris and Kris' fans. Both singer and fans are absolute winners.

  7. Anonymous Said,

Glambert fans can't ever let Kris have something can they? Heifer is a Kris thing, you don't see Kris fans all over Donor's Choose which has been Adam's big thing.

  8. Anonymous Said,

I appreciate all that Kris fans have done and since this article is all about Kri and the story of how this snowballed, is there anyway you can post a pic of Kris Allen to go with the article instead of Adam. It really is misleading when you're trying to post links.

  9. Anonymous Said,

I had linked this on my Facebook wall but needed to delete it since it came up with Adam Lambert's picture. This not only caused confusion (and some backlash), it was pretty much a slap in the face to Kris Allen and his fans.

I'm sure you weren't aware that would happen. Is there any way you could have a picture of Kris in that link instead.

I think it's very nice that some of Adam's fans have decided to help out Heifer International. It's a very worthy cause.

  10. Casey Said,

The previous two comments raise good points - we needed a photo of Kris. I just added a great shot we have of him performing at a Heifer-hosted event in April. That evening Kris sang and also spoke about his recent trip to Rwanda with Tom's Shoes and another great organization - Bridge 2 Rwanda. You can read more about them here: http://www.bridge2rwanda.org/

It was never our intent to mislead or offend anyone by including Adam's photo. We just think it's significant that fans of both artists are choosing to help others through Heifer. It's so significant that I decided to give the Glamberts for Adam's Ark team their own post instead. In a moment, you should see it just below this post on the blog home page.

    Thanks again for your support.

Kris Allen & his fans continue to lead with CLASS! Selfless & unassuming is the example Kris has set! Others can only follow!

  12. Anonymous Said,

    Thank you, Casey!

Besides Kris Allen and his equally amazing fans, who should we credit for this noble effort? I remember receiving a tweet from @krinjasignal and @krisallenphil on Jun 17, the very first day this fund-raiser became a trend. Are we going to know who was the brainchild behind this surprisingly 'kick-awesome' event?
Kudos also goes to the lady who purchased Kris' cds for her own charity in response to this fund-raiser.
Kris is just a truly amazing person. He has this inspirational effect on people that moves us to be as giving as he is. Keep up the good work, and more success to your summer tour.

  14. Linda who loves Adam and Heifer Said,

OK, Kris fans, please listen up!
I AM the Glamb [Adam Fan] that got this whole ball rolling with Adam's Ark and I can tell you that I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA that you had this wonderful charitable donation going in Kris's name. Some time ago Adam asked that his fans make donations to charitable causes in his name in lieu of gifts to him. He supports Donarschoose and others but suggested giving to any cause in his name and then maybe giving him a card or slip of paper to show what had been donated. This caused me to flash back to when I used to give Heifer gifts to people at Christmas [and birthdays!]and how much they told me they loved getting the gift cards from Heifer. THAT is what caused me to start Adam's Ark a month or so ago and it wasn't until about a week ago that I found out about your successful project for Kris's birthday. I have been posting "Kudos to Kris's fans" in all of my comments to Glambs and can't believe that this gracious effort from both camps to help people all over the world is meeting with ugliness and anger from some! I have never been able to understand the rivalry between Kris fans and Adam fans when the two beautiful talents THEMSELVES have been so loving and respectful of each other!

PLEASE let's just be thankful that they have BOTH inspired us to do better and give what we can to help!

I will sign this as I often sign posts...
    Peace, Love and Adam Lambert
